Advantages of Stone Carpet Floor Coating

Natural and Aesthetic Appearance

Stone carpet offers real marble or granite aesthetics since natural stone granules are used. Each granule carries its unique color and texture, no synthetic appearance. Creates an organic and elegant floor.

Excellent Water Permeability

Thanks to the porous structure of stone carpet, rainwater does not accumulate on the surface, easily filters to the subfloor. This feature eliminates puddles, pond formation and slipping risk.

Non-slip and Safe Surface

Provides high grip on wet or dry surface thanks to granular texture. Slipping risk is very low. Perfect choice for wet areas such as pool edges, shower areas, stair steps.

High Durability

Natural stone granules are extremely resistant to abrasion, impacts and mechanical stresses. Polyurethane binder is resistant to UV, freeze-thaw cycles and weather conditions.

Easy Maintenance and Cleaning

Since the surface is porous, dirt and dust pass inside, do not accumulate on top. Daily sweeping or leaf cleaning with blower is sufficient. Periodic washing with pressure water is recommended.

Fast Application

A balcony (15-20 m²) can be completed in half a day with professional teams. Preparation works are minimal. Drying time is 24-48 hours. Can be opened to walking traffic after 48 hours.

Structural Features of Stone Carpet Floor Coating

Stone carpet floor coating consists of two main components:

Natural Stone Granules

Obtained by crushing marble, granite, quartz or colored natural stones into granules of 2-5 mm size. Color variety depends on the type of natural stone. Options such as white marble, black granite, beige travertine, gray quartz are available.

Polyurethane or Epoxy Binder Resin

UV resistant, transparent, two-component (resin + hardener) binder material. Bonds stone granules to each other and to the subfloor. Provides flexibility, durability and resistance to weather conditions.

Stone Carpet Floor Coating Application Process

1

Floor Preparation and Inspection

The foundation of a successful stone carpet application is proper floor preparation. Subfloor should be concrete or asphalt. Concrete floor should be at least 28 days cured, minimum C20 class and 8-10 cm thick.

2

Floor Cleaning and Primer

Floor should be swept, dust and dirt residues should be cleaned. Polyurethane-based primer is applied on porous or absorbent floors. Primer reduces floor absorbency and strengthens bonding.

3

Material Preparation

Stone granules should be clean and dry. Two-component polyurethane resin is mixed with precise weighing. Stone granules and resin are mixed to obtain a homogeneous mixture.

4

Application and Spreading

Prepared mixture is poured onto the floor. Spread and compacted with metal trowel or special stone carpet trowel. Thickness is adjusted to be 15-20 mm. Compressed with roller or compaction plate.
